birthday dress?

credit: net-a-porter.com

My dream birthday dress by Alexander Wang. If it's not obvious, it's only a DREAM dress. I can't afford a $650 dress when I just got broke from all of my Christmas shopping. Hahaha. Must look for other alternatives that fits my budget range. I don't know maybe $20? HAHAHA. As usual, this time of year is always so expensive. I still have an anniversary present for the BF I have to look for. Oh the holidays!

ma dang sae

Ma Dang Sae
21004 Pioneer Blvd
Lakewood, CA 90715

Although I was craving Thai food one day, the BF was craving KBBQ so we wanted to try something new (at least I did). The BF has been to Ma Dang Sae with his coworkers awhile ago and one of our friends also has been there so we decided for me to try it out. Ma Dang Sa is an "all you can eat" KBBQ that is relatively cheap. For $9.99 a person, you get all sorts of side dishes and a huge bottomless plate of brisket (you can also request for pork belly which we did). For dessert, they give you a small cup of ice cream served with a Baskin Robbins spoon (which seems a bit sketchy to me might I add haha). All in all, it was an OKAY experience. I've tried better since the meat was extremely bland and I drenched my meat in sesame oil and chili garlic sauce. I highly recommend this place if you want a lot of food for cheap.

disneyland #1

disneyland, november 2009

The BF and I try to make it to Disneyland once a week (yay for annual passes!) but this unexpected spurt of rain is getting in our way. I really want to go before Christmas though. I'm hoping later on today we'll go if the rain isn't so bad!

ps
I decided to make a label for Disneyland since I go there often. Whoo hoo I LOVE Disneyland!

old me, new me

old me, 2007

2009 is coming to an end in about 3 weeks. Time to make new resolutions that I barely keep. To tell you the truth, I can't even recall what my resolutions were for this year. More than likely, I did not go through with it. Hopefully, 2010 will be a different story.

1. Eat healthy (drink lots of water!)
2. Exercise
3. Do well in school
4. Save money, shop wisely, then travel the world
5. Clean my room every week
6. Spend time with old friends

cabo san lucas, april 2009

On a different note, traveling is something that I love and enjoy (very costly to my bank account though haha). New year, new places. Europe is #1 on my list this year as far as traveling (and let me tell you, its a headache trying to find decent prices for flights and hotels). People often ask how do I finance my travels. I only work for clothes and traveling (the only bills I pay are phone bills) and I usually have to work A LOT in order to finance my travels but its all worth it in the end. And it helps a lot to travel during the "off season".

porto's bakery

Porto's Bakery
315 North Brand Blvd.
Glendale, CA 91203

Tried Porto's for the first time yesterday after a friend highly suggested it. Talk about tasty and CHEAP. Altogether, the BF and I spent about $26 on two sandwiches, four potato balls, a slice of oreo cheesecake, a slice of tres leche cheesecake, a slice of strawberry shortcake, croquettes .... and the list goes on practically. And I like the whole cafeteria-ish vibe they have going on in there. Reminded me of a cruise for some reason. Anyway, if you are ever in the Glendale area, definitely swing by! They also have amazing ratings on Yelp.com so check before hand for other recommendations!

new york city

new york city, january 2009

My BF showed me this quote that he got from a friend:

"There are roughly three New Yorks. There is, first, the New York of the man or woman who was born there, who takes the city for granted and accepts its size, its turbulence as natural and inevitable. Second, there is the New York of the commuter--the city that is devoured by locusts each day and spat out each night. Third, there is New York of the person who was born somewhere else and came to New York in quest of something. Of these trembling cities the greatest is the last--the city of final destination, the city that is a goal. It is this third city that accounts for New York’s high strung disposition, its poetical deportment, its dedication to the arts, and its incomparable achievements. Commuters give the city its tidal restlessness, natives give it solidity and continuity, but the settlers give it passion." -E.B. White

I've loved San Francisco, I've loved Hawaii, I've loved Boracay, that is until I landed in JFK. I knew exactly why I've wanted to go here for so long. The vibe, the people, the city, everything about it makes my heart race like no other city has. The skyscrapers, the food, the subways, the walking, the fashion, Central Park, Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge, Empire State, Rockefeller Center. No other city compares. The BF and I have been talking about moving there. In 2011 to be exact. I seriously can not wait for our adventure.

first day off in weeks

curry, november 2009

Life has slowed down since Sunday which I'm grateful for. That being said, today was my second day off in awhile and I spent the day on the couch with the BF watching Law&Order: SVU and playing with this baby boy. For tomorrow, we made plans to have brunch in Glendale and do some shopping at the Americana and maybe Disneyland. I'm definitely excited after so much work we've done in the last month.

give thanks

october 2008

Although it's been a tough year and a half, nonetheless, I feel extremely grateful for everything I have now (health, family, boyfriend, job, Curry, etc) and what I used to have (I love you dad!). Hope you all have a splendid Thanksgiving! And hopefully an outfit post will be posted later on today. Same old excuse, but I've been picking up shifts at work and today is pretty much my only day off this week. Thank goodness for that!

what i've been up to

Genghiskhan Barbeque Buffett House
4498 Lincoln Ave
Cypress, CA 90630

School officially took over my life. Jeebers, do I need either an exam or paper (or even both!) every single week. Apparently, I do as far as my classes are structured. Finals is also coming up and I still have two papers to write and more exams before that week comes. Winter break, at least you're almost here!

Anyway, in the past few days I've: ate at a buffet house to satisfy my lack of protein intake (bills ALSO took over my life and I ate LUNCHABLES for a good week ... no money equals no meat hahahaha), wrote a paper on a neolithic figure and a black figure style Etruscan vase, worked, worked, worked, went to school, and spent a day in Disneyland laughing on the Space Mountain ride among others. Also, my shopping has ceased to almost none in order to finance my travels to New York and Europe next year (I plan to do my shopping there .. clever I know!). With that being said, I'm in search for a cute coat and over the knee boots for New York. I have my eye on a Urban Outfitters coat but I'm going to check Zara and vintage shops for coats also. By the way, I have my long leather gloves ready. I'm excited, I need a break from this hectic schedule I have going on this semester!

Hope you all had/or going to have an awesome day today!

marchesa, spring 2009

Winter Formal is in the air. If I was in high school right now, Marchesa would be my go-to designer as far as formal dresses. But that is if I was "rolling in dough". Too bad I don't have a reason to frolic in their beautiful gowns.

la creperie

La Creperie
4911 E 2nd Street
Long Beach, California 90803

The bf and I usually celebrate our birthdays and anniversaries at La Creperie. One of my favorite restaurants for sure. If you love garlic, I personally think that the garlic fries are amazing (and I've tried quite a few). And as for dessert crepe (skipped on the caesar salad- come on its just caesar and I rather save my appetite for dessert!), I usually pick the Marie Antoinette. A strawberry and banana crepe topped with nutella and whipped cream (and you toss in the ice cream a la mode). Mmm amazing.

I'm going to make this short and sweet. Filet mignon tacos, tortas, and carne asada tacos; who does not want that? Next time, I want to try the filet mignon torta. OMG my mouth is watering.

Allow me to introduce to you my new favorite jacket! When I was working a couple weeks ago I saw the light blue version of it and I tried it on during my break but it didn’t work out. Blue just isn’t flattering on me. The next day, I came across this color and I was super stoked.

Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween! I apologize for the lack of posts. I’ve been working and going to school with midterms and papers in between. It’s a bit stressful but next week I have a short break!

I made the hair bow and dress last night. I am extremely pleased with the result. I was actually hesitant to make it since I thought I didn’t have time to but it yes I did it!

keep going

my backyard, september 2009

At the moment, I'm attempting to get ready for a friend's wedding today. Clearly failed but what can I do. Time to hustle. Hair's a mess, dress definitely something I wasn't planning on wearing (blame it on the lack of time). How come it was so much easier for me to go to work and school at the same time a year ago? Still have no answer for that. And after the wedding, I'm going to hit the books for another midterm on Monday (tomorrow is fully devoted to studying). Geebers, today was the first time I slept my full 8 hours in a week. Hopefully next week is better.

But, I was able to sneak a photo in between school and work. My plumeria tree is in full bloom.

philippines 2007

A year ago today, I lost my Dad. To tell you the truth, it hasn't gotten any easier and especially the last few days. Everyday before this week, I thought of my Dad and of the good times. This week was different. I had vivid images in my mind of everything that happened exactly a year ago today. Don't know what else to say other than I'm a bit overwhelmed with all this plus school and work.

I love you dad, and I miss you

OH! and I just started cutting down my shopping. For all the right reasons of course …. traveling :)

crave

rainbow drive-in, honolulu, july 2009

I couldn't help but blog about this amazing oh so delicious plate from a local food joint in Honolulu. You may have noticed this photo from my Hawaii post. But anyway, meet Corned Beef Hash from Rainbow Drive-In. With a generous amount of gravy, egg, and a side of macaroni (one of the island's local staples) I could eat it for days and not get tired of it. OH! and toss in some chili and I will have one satisfied tummy. I'm definitely drooling at the moment. Seriously, after having it everyday in Hawaii last month for a week, it got a bit depressing when I arrived home and realized that NOTHING will satisfy my corn beef hash cravings. And flying to Hawaii just for the plate is not an option. Oh what to do what to do.

goodbye summer!

hawaii, july 2009

Today marks my last day for summer (since I have work tomorrow). I'm looking forward to this semester (or maybe not ... haha). But anyway, I had an amazing time this summer and it definitely flew by quick! Sure, I had my ups and downs but definitely ups. From San Francisco (twice!) to Hawaii, I couldn't ask for anything more (well except wishing for my Dad to still be here but that's a whole completely different story). And since school is starting Monday, that means fall is almost here and I'm definitely not going to FAIL wardrobe-wise. Trust me, this 100 Degree weather at the moment is making me frustrated. GRRR

Hope you all had an amazing summer and good luck this semester!

San Francisco's Temperature: 73 degrees Fahrenheit!

... how I long to be in San Francisco RIGHT NOW. Maybe I'll stop by a Starbucks to indulge myself in a ice cold Passion Tea Lemonade. I think I should.

Tomorrow I will be answering comments and visiting blogs!

back to the bay

urban outfitters leather pants, h&m sweater, shoes, and scarf

This weekend I drove up to San Francisco for a couple of days. I was anticipating the cold weather and I checked the forecast and I knew that the temperature was a lot cooler than in the Los Angeles area BUT I didn’t pack accordingly. Why? I have no clue (I LOVE COLD WEATHER! How on earth did I miss that). Anyway, it was FREEEEZING in the bay area and I had to go to H&M to buy a sweater and a scarf to keep warm.

Anyway, this is an outcome of me not packing accordingly for a trip. Never again.
